The Rise of the Working Class - J. Kuczynski
OverzichtOne of the main social changes brought about by the Industrial Revolution was the emergence of a new class worker. For the first time in history there was a group of free men (as opposed to slaves) who worked with their hands but did not own the means of production. Unlike the journeymen and craftsmen of pre-industrial days the new workers who flocked to the towns possessed no tools of their own but competed with one another with their labour for jobs that the machine created.
