Migration chronicles - C. Michalopoulos
OverzichtIt all started with a simple crop failure that forced the author's grandfather to migrate from a small backward Greek village to the U.S. a hundred years ago. It evolved into a saga of tragedy and triumph spanning four generations and two continents.
This is a chronicle of the struggles of a Greek immigrant family to survive and prosper in the U.S. and the lives of other immigrants who crossed paths with the Michalopoulos clan. Partly autobiographical, it is also a historical account of people coping with events that shook the world during the last century like the Armenian genocide, the Jewish holocaust and the Second World War, or uniquely Greek calamities such as the war with Turkey in 1920-1921, and the civil war of the 1940's.
